THE BIG 3
(LIKE NO OTHER)

Hydroxyapatite
(Fluoride Alternative)

Thanks to Astronauts... In 1970 NASA created a synthetic form of hydroxyapatite (HAp) to restore astronauts teeth following missions in space; and it’s been used in Japan to combat cavities for over 40 years. However, we are using the real stuff - no synthetics here! It's a natural mineral and a naturally occurring material in our bodies. The main component of our teeth is HAp, encompassing 97% of the enamel. It's one of the most studied biomaterials in the medical field for its proven biocompatibility. HAp is backed by science; and considered to be safe, non-toxic and very effective for strengthening enamel. We use it as our primary natural alternative to fluoride.

Theobromine
(Fluoride Alternative)

Strength through chocolate? That's right - a natural chocolate (cacao extract) to assist with remineralization and potentially assist with hypersensitivity. Backed by science, Theobromine has the capacity to reduce plaque and prevent cavities; therefore, we use it as our secondary natural alternative to fluoride.

Activated Charcoal
(Natural Whitener)

Scared of the dark? The Ancient Romans brushed with charcoal centuries ago! They also brushed with crushed bones and oyster shells; however, we don't recommend going that far... Activated charcoal has been used in medicine for thousands of years. Today, there are many charcoal-based toothpastes on the market; however, they are NOT equal. To combat any concern over excessive abrasiveness - We use a sparing amount of activated charcoal derived naturally from coconut shells for its whitening properties. We've combined it with other natural whitening and the remineralizing ingredients above to gently whiten without worry.

THE GREAT 8
(HIGH-DEMAND INGREDIENTS)

Xylitol
(Sweetener)

The benefits are literally worth salivating over.  Xylitol is a naturally occurring sugar alcohol that has been widely studied over the last 40 years. It's found naturally in fruit, vegetables and berries. According to a 2014 study, It is "practically nonfermentable by oral bacteria." Xylitol increases saliva flow and pH levels; reducing bacteria, plaque levels, gingival inflammation and erosion of teeth.

Coconut Oil
(Prevents Plaque Buildup; Anti-bacterial)

A nature moisturizer. Much like oil pulling- without the hassle. Coconut oil attracts the bacteria and you simply spit it out. Leaving you with a fresh feel.

Aloe Vera
(Antiviral & Anti-inflammatory)

Aloe You Vera Much.  Too punny? Sorry, we couldn't resist. Aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis) is a plant that belongs to the Liliaceae family, which contains various minerals and vitamins. It is antiviral and anti-inflammatory in nature; and is widely known for cleaning and soothing teeth and gums.

Green Tea
(Anti-bacterial)

An antioxidant helpful in the prevention of dental caries.

Black Tea
(Anti-bacterial)

An antioxidant helpful in the prevention of dental caries.

Ginseng
(Anti-bacterial)

An antioxidant that helps the gums.

Tea Tree Oil
(Anti-inflammatory; Anti-microbal)

Used to control bacteria and reduce plaque buildup.

Mint
(Freshens Breath)

Mint Elevated.  A tribute to this great flavor with a subtle reference to where it's made. Utah. Life Elevated. That said, we dialed in the mint; striking the right balance for a mild yet invigorating experience; and lasting fresh breath.

THE SUPPORTING CAST
(MAKES THE PASTE)

Vegetable Glycerin
(Solvent)

Amplify the feeling in the mouth. If you're looking for a gritty paste that tastes like chalk or better yet, Earth, you'll want to look elsewhere. Grind uses Vegetable Glycerin, a natural ingredient derived from coconut. We use it to provide a pleasant texture and too moisturize.

Hydrated Silica
(Cleaner)

From the Earth's crust. Hydrated Silica is a natural ingredient derived from silicon.  Silicon comprises a large component of the Earth's crust. We use it to complement activated charcoal as a mild abrasive to polish, clean and whiten the teeth.

Calcium Carbonate
(Cleaner)

Derived from limestone, Calcium Carbonate is a mild abrasive used to remove plaque and polish stains.

Sodium Bicarbonate
(Cleaner)

Baking Soda. Sodium Bicarbonate, known as baking soda, is a mild abrasive used to remove plaque.

Purified Water
(Solvent)

Water is Nature. Purified H2O to keep this perfect paste from drying out.

Sorbitol
(Sweetener)

Don't let the word "Sorbitol" throw you off.  It benefits oral health in many ways. Sorbitol is another naturally occurring sugar alcohol; found naturally in raspberries, strawberries, apples, peaches and plums. Best part - it's non-cariogenic, which means it does not contribute to cavity formation. We use it for its sweetness, texture and moisture retention properties.

Stevia
(Sweetener)

Stevia rebaudiana extract, known as "Stevia" is a sugar-free FDA approved sweetener that comes from the sunflower family. We combine Stevia with Xylitol and Sorbitol to provide the perfect balance of sweetness.

Cocamidopropyl Betaine
(Foaming Agent)

Derived from coconut oil, Cocamidopropyl Betaine is a foaming agent used to emulsify and distribute the paste throughout the mouth to remove debris.

Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate
(Foaming Agent)

Derived from coconut oil, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate is a mild foaming agent used to emulsify and distribute the paste throughout the mouth to remove debris.

Potassium Sorbate
(Preservative)

Antimicrobial. An FDA approved oral care preservative used to prevent the growth of micro-organisms.

Citric Acid
(Preservative)

Antimicrobial. An FDA approved oral care preservative used to prevent the growth of micro-organisms. We use a small amount that does not affect the pH level or enamel (unlike eating citrus fruit).

Mica
(Sparkles)

A safe oral care ingredient used to give the paste a sparkle.

Titanium Dioxide
(Sparkles)

A safe natural mineral combined with Mica and used to give the paste a pleasant color.

Natural Flavors

Natural coconut, mint, and vanilla flavors.
